Norwich City’s final pre-season tour game against SC Bastia, ended in a 1-1 draw and gave City the sort of workout they needed as the Championship season kicks off in just two weeks time.
City boss Neil Adams was generally pleased with what he saw as Anthony Pilkington scored an 85 minute equaliser in a picturesque setting near to Mont Blanc.
“Overall I was pleased with the performance. I think we deserved to get something from the game, I would have been disappointed if we had lost it,” he said after the final whistle.
“We dominated the ball, I think we had a lot more possession than them.
“We looked strong and we looked solid, there was certainly a much better use of the ball in the second half and we gave them a problem.
“They`re a good team. Claude Makelele is their manager and they like to pass the ball, but I felt overall we were the better side.”
Adams, talking to Canaries.co.uk also gave an injury update on Jonny Howson, who limped off with a knee injury and Kyle Lafferty who was unable to start after a knock suffered in training on Wednesday.
“He (Howson) kicked through and he`s just tweaked his knee. He`s in there with an icebag on it, and he said it doesn`t feel too bad. It`s the sort of one where 24 hours is key, so we`ll see in the morning.
“Jonny Howson is a key player for us, so fingers crossed he`s ok.”
Adams also explained that Lafferty`s scan returned positive results before the match.
“It showed no tear on the muscle, just some bleeding which is best case scenario. He`s in a protective boot purely as a precaution. Best case scenario is three to four days for Kyle.”
I’m going to the Nice game on Monday and was hoping to see both Grabban and Lafferty, looks like Lafferty definitely won’t play, fingers crossed for Grabban. We need a new hero and I’m hoping one of these two could be the man.
