Argentine Playmaker Heads To Norwich

|

That headline will hopefully make you smile this morning, as the news has surfaced via an EDP exclusive that Norwich have agreed on a deal to sign the Argentine midfielder, Emi Buendia from Spanish side Getafe.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at La Liga 2 side Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa and won the player of the season award with 13 assists and 6 goals in 40 appearances.

They were, however, relegated so it looks like he couldn’t do it all on his own. Perhaps, he didn’t have a decent striker to provide assists for!

The cultured playmaker has been with Getafe since he was 14 and has represented Spain at U19 level and Argentina at U20 level, so I’m guessing he’s finally plumped for Argentina.

He can play on either flank or as a number 10, and looks like as though he’s a direct replacement for a certain James Maddison who seems Premier League bound.

I understand that the deal was agreed in January, meaning he is highly likely to be the player that Stuart Webber spoke about already signing, in April at a Fans’ forum.

There is no word from the club yet but with Maddison nearing a move, seemingly to Leicester, expect this to come as some “good news” to try to balance the loss of Maddison.

I wonder if he knows any good strikers in La Liga?
