An announcement on the Canaries website has brought to an end an eight year agreement with Aviva which saw them as main club sponsors.

The deal, thought to be in excess of £1 million per annum, saw the club benefit from Aviva’s need to ensure those in Norfolk felt comforted by the extensive branding change from Norwich Union.

The club state that Aviva will now be the club’s official ‘Community Partner’

So…where does that leave us? Relegation next year would be a considerable impact, financially, without this – but the loss of this additional income would also be felt and so the club’s commercial team will be hard at work trying to find a suitable replacement.

Of course, the concern for many NCFC fans would be the lack of realistic options aside from Bookmakers and Online casinos.

Looking at our current sponsors Best Fiends and Coral jump out as major players, with local firms such as Alan Boswell Group, who specialise in Landlords Insurance and Business Insurance, and Constitution Motors unlikely to invest the considerable funds required to be main sponsors for a premier league team.

We all hope that Norwich buck the trend and find a replacement able to meet both club and fans desires – but we may have to be realistic and we shouldn’t be surprised if we end up with one of the regulation casino sites.

Shirt sales, I feel, will be hampered if this is the case – but if the design is good they might get away with it.
