News of Leon Barnett’s early recall and Ryan Bennett gets into hot water with the FA…
Leon Barnett has been recalled early by Norwich City from his loan at Cardiff.
The 28 year old defender made eight appearances for Malky McKay’s side and helped them over the line to promotion and title success.
He has had his loan cut short after a groin injury suffered by Michael Turner against Reading. Presumably this indicates that Turner will miss a few games and might miss the end of the season run in.
Also in the news today was Turner’s replacement on Saturday, Ryan Bennett.
Bennett came off the bench after 15 minutes to score the first goal and win the sponsor’s man of the match award.
After such a terrific return to the side it was disappointing to hear that he has fallen foul of the FA via the social networking site, Twitter.
The 23-year-old has been accused of using ‘abusive and/or insulting and/or threatening words’ on the social networking site.
He has until 16:00 BST on Friday to respond to the charge.
Bennett closed his account on Tuesday after tweeting: ‘Being charged by FA, for replying to someone coming for me, that’s the reason so bye bye all.’
He added: ‘Officially going to delete twitter! Seems you can’t say what you want on here, public can say why [what] they want bit [but] seems I can’t reply!’
He’s not the first and won’t be the last player to learn that you can’t say what you want. It seems he made some threatening comments in response to something said to him on the site, which isn’t worth repeating here.
Hopefully he’ll pick up a fine and nothing more, we will need him in Turner’s absence.
