Being A Norwich City Fan

|

Written by Jon Goddard

The life of every football fan has so many ups and downs and so many highs and lows.

Following my beloved Norwich City is no exception. Perhaps, I should start by explaining how I became a Norwich fan in the first place.

It was my late grandfather’s fault, he lived and worked in Norwich for many years, and when I  was young he used to take me to matches when the mighty yellows came to London.

Soon I  was hooked and when I got a little older and was able to go to matches by myself there was the added bonus of a free lunch at my Aunts’ before home games, plus a lift to the ground from her neighbour across the road.

To this day, some forty years later my father still holds a grudge that I did not follow his lead and become a Chelsea fan.  He grew up right next to their stadium.

The reason for this article is how much I have enjoyed this season. Due to other commitments I have only seen seven live games but have witnessed a number of the rest on tv and the free-flowing, energetic football and never say die attitude has been a joy to watch.

The current board deserve an enormous pat on the back for sticking with Daniel Farke and it is to his credit for making the bold and brave decisions to bring into the team so many youngsters who have invigorated their team mates and put a very big smile back on the fans’ faces.

Let’s just hope we can finish off the season in style by winning promotion back to the Premier League, which over the season is no more than we deserve and perhaps, just perhaps, receive the full credit and all the media attention that warrants such an achievement.
