League One leaders Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed that Elliott Bennett wants to leave the club.

However chairman Tony Bloom today insisted that Seagulls are not under any pressure to sell players, and that they do not intend to.

The Sun announced overnight that Bennett had submitted a transfer request following a fortnight of almost constant speculation linking the 22-year-old former Wolves man with a move to Norfolk.

However Brighton have already rejected a £1million bid from the Canaries according to reports, and in a short but sweet statement on Brighton’s official website, Bloom said:

‘Nothing has changed. We do not want to sell Elliott, we don’t need to sell the player.’
