Celtic have asked Norwich City about the availability of Gary Hooper on loan, according to The Scottish Sun.
This is a very small snippet of a story but it also suggests that City would want a loan fee and the player’s reported £32k a week wages fully covered. Hoops is in the final year of a the three year deal he signed when he joined Norwich, although City do hold the option for a further year.
It seems to me that the ideal solution would be an initial loan with a guaranteed purchase for a fixed fee at the end – assuming of course that Norwich can sign someone of greater quality to replace him, otherwise there is no point. This is likely to be a very late deal IF it happens as it’s looking increasingly likely that City’s own search for a new striker will run for a while yet.
