Charlton failed to close the gap on City and second-placed Leeds United last night after going down 2-1 at Bristol Rovers.

Steve Elliott put the hosts ahead on fourteen minutes and the lead was doubled shortly after the hour by Paul Heffernan.

Therry Racon pulled one back for Charlton in the last minute of injury time, but Rovers held on easily to leave the Addicks nine points behind the Canaries, five behind Leeds – who play the first of their two games in hand tonight – and looking nervously over their shoulder at Colchester and Swindon.
