Various reports suggest City have agreed a fee with PSV for their attacking midfielder, Nils Ola Toivonen…

Norwich City have reportedly agreed a £4.7m fee with PSV Eindhoven for their Swedish forward, Nils Ola Toivonen.

Toivonen is currently on International duty with his country for who he has played 33 times and scored six goals. The decision as to whether or not to join the Canaries is now believed to rest with the player.

Since joining PSV in 2009 he has scored 59 goals in 125 appearances and is in the last year of his contract there. He has fallen out with his club in a big way and been threatened with reserve team football if he refuses to sign a new contract.

Asked about a move to the Premier League last week, Toivonen said: “It is always interesting. I don`t know, hard to say (what league would suit him). It depends on which team you come to.
“There are teams who like to play long balls and those who like to play by the ground. I prefer the latter.”
Toivonen added: “The policy of PSV has changed and that`s bad for me. I didn`t start all this.
“So I will start with the approaches on July 1. But the asking price is too high. I`ve said it before and I continue to say it.”
Toivonen is described as an attacking midfielder or striker and clearly has an eye for goal which is exactly what we need. Versatile players are always useful and whilst Wes Hoolahan has been a vital cog in our machine he`s not exactly prolific in front of goal. This Swedish lad looks to be a decent player on paper, at least – Sounds very promising.
