A whopping 58% of voters want Paul Jewell to take over as Norwich City manager.

That is the result from our latest Vital Norwich poll, which gives as clear an indication to the City board as any; we want Jewell and we want him now.

The matter is expected to come to a head this week, and with the former Wigan boss having been on a sabbatical from football up until last weekend, it should be known come the weekend whether the Canary faithful are being ‘Alan Curbishley optimistic` or ‘Martin O`Neill realistic`.

Of the others, Martin Allen grabbed 13% of the vote and the man they call ‘Mad Dog` was strongly linked with the Norwich vacancy in the Sunday People at the weekend.

A Pierre Littbarski-Ian Crook combo could also get the backing of Norwich fans, with 12% wanting the pair to continue their success in Japan with a foray in the Championship – albeit at the wrong end of the table.

The remaining names shared the rest of the vote, but the poll provided a bold message to the board.

We know who the fans want. This week, we should find out who the board wants.

We wait with baited breath.
