Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City are among those reportedly keen on signing Newcastle United winger Jonas Gutierrez this month, according to The Sunday People.
The 30-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his existing deal at St James’s Park, is thought to have grown disillusioned with life in the North East after falling out of favour under manager Alan Pardew this season.
With the World Cup hurtling towards us this summer, the Argentinian international is thought to be keen on boosting his chances of making his nation’s 23-man squad for Brazil by playing regularly.
According to The Mirror (yep, them again) Harry Redknapp and Chris Hughton are interested in the winger and will both try to secure his signature during the January transfer window.
Gutierrez has made 200 appearances for Newcastle in his six year spell but hardly featured this term, at all. Whenever I’ve seen him, he has been a hard working, tough, effective opponent, so I wouldn’t be adverse to him coming to City.
