According to press reports in Italy, Norwich City have been turned down in their approach for Roma’s Argentinian International defender, Nicolas Burdisso.
Burdisso hasn’t played for his country since November 2011 when he ruptured knee ligaments in a 2-1 win against Colombia, which sidelined him for six months.
Before that game the ex-Inter man had been a regular for Argentina who was included in their squad for the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
This season, Roma have been doing well and are chasing league leaders, Juventus but are managing to do so without Burdisso, who has made just five appearances.
Here is another player who wants to be in with a shout of his country’s World Cup squad but yet again, he thinks we are beneath him – no doubt the league position doesn’t help.
‘After four-and-a-half years at Roma, the cycle is coming to an end. I`m thinking of continuing my career and playing at the World Cup,” Burdisso told Sky Sport Italia on Wednesday.
This chap is no spring chicken at the age of 32 but has bags of experience, having made 101 appearances for Roma scoring 6 goals and 49 International appearances, notching 2 goals for his country.
Another one slips through the net – however, the pedigree of some of these players, that are apparently turning us down, seems very good. That’s positive, surely?
