Savvy with the news of City adding yet another keeper to the ranks at Carrow Road…

City have signed highly-rated 18-year-old keeper Tyler Reading on a two-year scholarship agreement from Luton Town.

Luton confirmed the youngster will join the Canaries after progressing through the ranks at Kenilworth Road.

“While it is our ultimate aim to push players all the way through our development programme, we would never stand in the way of a player who is offered the opportunity to move on to a bigger club,” said Luton`s head of youth operations Matt Stannard.

“We felt in this instance that this was the right move for Tyler and Luton Town Football Club.”

There is no comment yet from anyone at Carrow Road on the deal.

  • What a waste of time and effort when Rudd is out on loan . This guy will eventually go the same way as the others

  • Let me play devil’s advocate – Now, I know nothing about this lad he may be rubbish for all I know. However

  • Ill continue! We do have the England goal keeping coach on our staff and what if this lad is a top prospect? It seems to me that scouting young players is a very important part of being a top football club. John Ruddy was picked up by Everton and ultimately was never going to dislodge Tim Howard but he was picked up very cheap, as Tyler Reading will have been and was then sold on for a profit. The same thing happened with Joe Hart at Man City.
Reading is not for the here and now, time will tell after he’s worked with Dave Watson for a while as to how he turns out. You win some, you lose some with young players. Don’t get me wrong I’d like a decent new striker as much as the next fan, I’m just being lucifer’s legal advisor 🙂
