Grant Holt can breath a bit easier now, as his manager has recruited another target man to assist his leading scorer in the march towards a top two finish.

After passing a medical, Oli Johnson, 22, has joined city’s prolific strike force. Here’s hoping he can produce goals like this more regularly than he has this season, as he has only scored once!

In addition to Johnson, City have snapped up central defender Zak Whitbread, who has also joined also on a two and a half year deal from Millwall.

Having experienced playing alongside Sami Hyppia at Liverpool, where he also joined in the celebrations when they lifted the European Cup, he has good pedigree.

Hailing from Texas, the 25 year old has long been a target of Lambert’s, as he told Pinkun this afternoon, ‘I saw Zak in my first year at Colchester – the bonus for us is he is a left-footed centre half. He has played the league and knows what it’s like and he’s played for Liverpool – and that should tell you what standard he is’

Let’s hope he’s right!
