Congratulations to the young City team that won the Youth FA Cup last night in a thrilling match at Chelsea…

Norwich City have won the Youth FA Cup Final after a thrilling second leg of the final at Stamford Bridge, last night.

The under 18 side went into the game with a slender one goal lead from the first leg which was given to them by Ex-Chelsea player and now City Captain, Cameron McGeehan`s late penalty.

McGeehan scored City`s second goal on the night, again from the penalty spot after Adam Nditi`s own goal had cancelled out Chelsea`s early opener.

Josh Murphy scored a third goal for City after a wonderful flowing move while Bogo pulled one back late on for the hosts, the final score being 4-2 on aggregate to Norwich.

McGeehan`s story in particular is fairytale like – he was signed by Chelsea as a ten year old for a fee somewhere between £50-£80k(!) depending on which report you read before being let go by the Blues aged 16 after which he was picked up by The Canaries.

McGeehan said “It is just unbelievable.” He added, “It was about the whole team ethic today, but on a personal note I just can`t put it into words how happy I am.
“I used to sit behind that goal, I was a ball boy every Premier League game. Every Champions League game I was here. But now I`m at a different level in my career now and I`d just love to play as well as I can for Norwich.
“And this is an amazing achievement to take the cup back to Carrow Road.”
The game was a joy to watch and the travelling support was immense as 3,000 City fans made the journey on a Monday night to watch support their lads. The clappers were again in evidence as the 17,000 strong crowd certainly knew all about the visiting fans.
Chelsea enjoyed plenty of possession but City displayed the same determination to work to Neil Adams` system that they showed in the first leg and were a constant threat on the counter.
On many occasions, the two Murphy boys created havoc among the Chelsea rear guard with their pace on the break. But for quicker thinking the score could`ve been even greater to the Norwich lads. Although, had it not been for some great saves by William Britt and some woeful finishing, Chelsea could also have scored a few more.
This is the first time for thirty years, since Dave Stringer`s youth team featuring one Jeremy Goss had won the trophy, that City have triumphed in the competition.
But having seen the crop of youngsters that City have in their care now, the future looks very bright indeed.
