Here’s a bit of fantasy football gossip for you with Lincoln City’s management duo of Danny and Nick Cowley supposedly having been discussed by the Carrow Road hierarchy for the vacant manager’s job at Norwich City.
This news has hit the gossip columns hard today with it being reported by everyone from the local Lincolnshire press and all sorts n between, right up to the likes of The Independent
Danny Cowley, ably assisted by brother Nick has had a superb season with the Imps, taking them to the National League title, as well as an amazing FA Cup run that saw them the first non-league side to make a quarter final for over 100 years.
Never mind Bournemouth, that’s a fairytale right there.
However, Norwich City need an experienced hand at the tiller and while Danny Cowley might well get snapped up by a bigger side in the future, it’s too early to give him the keys to the Colney manager’s office now.
A couple of weeks ago, the very same papers and media outlets were full of news of City’s interest in Northern Ireland manager, Michael O’Neil, only for the man himself and then a couple of days later, Stuart Webber, to both deny any talks had taken place.
There’s two schools of thought on transfer gossip, one is to report everything as gospel and the other, which is the one I subscribe to, is to report stuff that seems to have some grains of truth in it.
I know that I’m reporting this but hopefully you’ll understand that it’s only with the caveat of don’t believe everything you read in the papers 🙂
By the way, best of luck to Danny and Nick in League Two, I think most football fans will want to see them do well.
