City striker Jamie Cureton has been heavily linked with a move away from Carrow Road.

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates has confirmed that he has spoken to the 34-year-old’s agent.

Yates is quoted on the Pinkun as saying: ‘I have had a call from his agent, like I imagine many other managers have, and I am going to have to wheel and deal.’

The Robins are struggling in League Two and are currently just two places above the relegation places. Money is tight at Whaddon Road and Yates admitted that he may need to sell before he can buy.

‘I don’t think there are pots of money available, but I’ll be speaking to the chairman and the board to see what we can do,’ he said.

‘In an ideal world we’d bring in a couple to boost numbers and to improve the team as well.

‘There are also a couple of young players I have been watching and speaking to managers about bringing in. We need bodies to make sure we are not too short.

‘I might have to look to move one or two on; I won’t discard anyone, but sometimes it’s the only way to get things moving.’

Cureton is way down the Carrow Road pecking order and has made just eight appearances this season (scoring twice), and has also recently been linked with a move to Lincoln City.
