City striker Jamie Cureton has again been linked with a move away from Carrow Road, this time to Gillingham.

The Gills have already signed three players on loan in the last week, but manager Mark Stimson told kentnews.co.uk that chairman Paul Scally suggested a new name following yesterday’s draw with Colchester.

‘[Scally] mentioned the player and I’d jump all over the player he told me because he’s a player,’ said Stimson. ‘This player for me honestly is way out of the bracket I thought I could bring to the club so as soon as he said it I said ‘yes please’.

‘He’s a centre-forward, small, playing in our division at the moment but has played at a good level. Experienced, a player I would love to afford to bring to this club, it would make life a lot easier.

‘He’s probably [paid] as much as all our strikers put together and double it. It’s good talk, but whether you can back it up, who knows.’

Cureton is way down the Carrow Road pecking order and has made just eight appearances this season (scoring twice), and has also recently been linked with a move to Lincoln and Cheltenham.
