Daniel Farke Reveals Excellent News Ahead Of Blackburn Test

|

Finally there’s been a bit of good news on the injury front. Wednesday night’s game against Nottingham Forest gave us the surprise inclusion on the bench of Todd Cantwell, Kenny McLean, Kieran Dowell and Jordan Hugill. All four had completed just one full training session with the squad before getting the nod for the bench. Cantwell and McLean came off the bench late on and Todd bagged the assist for Emi Buendia’s winning goal.

Now, there’s even more good news with Daniel Farke announcing that Lukas Rupp and Tim Krul will be in his thoughts for next week’s game at home against Cardiff City – Krul could even play at Reading on Wednesday!

Speaking to the media via video, Farke gave his usual pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime and as usual, Vital Norwich forum stalwart, FC Bears was watching. Here’s his take on things currently…

No injury news is good news. All the players involved on Wednesday are available tomorrow.

Todd, Kenny, Kieran and Jordan have now had two days of training as well.

Rupp and Krul to be back for the Cardiff game.

DF loves to build Mario Vrancic up but then put him down –

“Vrancic plays in a deeper role, it’s good for our offensive creativity, but he’s not the best defensive midfield player in the world.”

DF wants to be able to give Grant Hanley a rest in the up and coming games:

”I would like to give Grant a rest, as for him to deliver all three days is not easy. We’re not perfect in our defending. We are good, but there’s room for improvement.”

DF says that many clubs were/are interested in Pukki but he loves the club and wants to play here and he wants Alex Tettey to stay and play into his 40’s!

“Pukki is the best free signing, not because of 100 appearances, but because of goals! What he’s done for this club is outstanding and his goal average is unbelievable for this level.”

“Many clubs were interested in Pukki but he loves to wear and represent the yellow shirt. He’s a great ambassador for the club and a fantastic person. Long may it continue that we work with him. When there are Prime Ministers from other countries in Finland, the President always gives them a Pukki shirt. He’s normal, grounded and balanced. He’s a team player.”

“In this business, it’s rare that anyone is grateful or thankful. Tettey having 250 games will be a sign of unbelievable quality, commitment and personality.

We have to pray every season that he goes further on instead of returning to Norway to enjoy the snow. He always helps us on the pitch, off the pitch, in the dressing room. He’s always there with a smile, professional, concentrated and focused.

“I tell him every day he can rest for 60 years on the sofa and eat lots of chocolate and cake in the future, but I won’t allow him to finish his playing career before he’s in his 40s. 250 is not the end, just a step.”

I think it will be the same starting eleven.

It’s great news that all these players are getting fit again and that DF will have the ability to use those five available substitutions to help rest players and change tactics. With one of the bigger and better quality squads in the league that could be another advantage for us – one that so far, we haven’t been unable to make too much of.
