Daniel Farke’s Bristol City Press Conference – A Fan’s View

|

Things are about to get real. Having managed to remain unbeaten over the last four games, Norwich now continue their league campaign with a tough looking trip to Bristol City. That will then be followed by equally looking tough games against Millwall next Tuesday and then a visit from Swansea City next Saturday.

On Friday lunchtime, Daniel Farke spoke to the media via his now usual virtual press conference and as usual Vital Norwich Forum stalwart, FC Bears was watching. Here’s his take on this weekend’s match.

“Xavi Quintilla will be out but not for a long time, fortunately.

Zimmermann is out again, although he has been back in training this week.

I thought Sorensen looked like he had pulled a hammy against Brentford but it was cramp – he is okay though.

DF says Bali Mumba is a right back so not going to play at left back, errrmmm Sorensen is a central midfielder Daniel?

DF says that Rupp can play left back too…..Why are we in this situation Daniel?

We should look at the free transfer market for a short term left back, in my opinion.

DF looks like he will go with Sorensen at LB again.

As I mentioned before he could play three at the back. I think the best option is Aarons at left back and Mumba at right back. Why have Mumba if we are not going to play him when we are down to two full backs?

Again, Hanley is a worry. Has an error in him. Have the last three goals we have conceded been down to him?

When looking we don’t have much competition in certain roles:

Krul – no real competition

Aarons – no real competition
Xavi – no real competition

Hanley/Zimmermann/Gibson – Only one of them can be replaced so if both play poorly only one can be dropped.

Emi – Martin can play right wing but DF wouldn’t drop Emi for him.

Pukki – DF never seems to want to drop him no matter how he plays.”

This run of three games will be a real test for the squad and the injury, fortunately it sounds slight, that Xavi Quintilla has is showing a real lack in terms of depth in that position, as FC Bears points out.
