Well, it’s deadline day, folks and there hasn’t been a lot of speculation around regarding Norwich City of late, which is generally a good thing, I’d say.

Today looks most likely to pass without incident, although there are a few rumblings in Germany over a late move by Hannover for the signature of Canary talisman, Timm Klose.

This Twitter account seems to be a Hannover information site (not official) and its source seems to be the print version of German daily, BILD, while also quoting Neue Presse as well.

Timm has one year left on what is likely to be a very expensive contract for the club but unlike some other high earners, his performances have warranted little criticism of his wage from the Canary nation.

He’s proven himself to be a big fan favourite, especially after that last minute equaliser against Ipswich, and a last minute sale on deadline day would take all the gloss off what otherwise, has been a decent looking transfer window.

So what are the chances of this happening?

Probably not huge but, in football you never know. I’d estimate that Klose is probably worth around £4m in today’s market, at the age of 30 and with only one year left on his current deal.

Daniel Farke and Stuart Webber wouldn’t want to lose such a key player at the 11th hour but this is crunch time. If an offer is made and rebuffed today, then City face the likelihood of losing the player for free next summer. They will know this and as he’s looking like a first-team regular again, you’d have to assume that they are ready and prepared for this situation, having already decided to keep him, which must mean they can afford to do so too.

He could, of course, sign a new deal like Alex Tettey did but that would be on vastly reduced terms, unless we were promoted and he could, like Alex, no doubt get more money elsewhere.

Not long to go and all this madness will be over. Fingers crossed there’s nothing really in this and it’s just late paper talk.

  • I think if the club got an offer of 5/6 million then they would sell as it would be a nice amount plus wages saved. This would leave us light at central defence but DF and SW might think Hanley, Zimmermann, Godfrey are fine and if Martin is still here they might include him!!!!! I think if this is true then the club would have known about interest before today and are going to sell would have a replacement lined up. Would Klose want to go? He loves the club and area and I think if offered a new deal would take it.
