Paul Lambert was understandably delighted after the 1-0 win at Wycombe lifted the Canaries into the automatic promotion places.

Wycombe goalkeeper Scott Shearer made a series of fine saves to keep the score respectable for the hosts, but could do nothing about Korey Smith’s strike with a little more than ten minutes left to play.

‘Scott Shearer was excellent, some of the saves he made were terrific but we kept on going and deservedly won the game,’ Lambert told canaries.co.uk after the game.

‘I knew if we kept on going something had to give but Scott was in excellent form. The never-say-die attitude that has been there in abundance since I’ve been here, backed by a tremendous following which kept us going.’

There were 2,200 City supporters in a crowd of just over 7,000 at Adams Park, and Lambert was quick to pay tribute to the travelling Canaries.

‘Without those people this place would be empty and that’s no disrespect to Wycombe but that following we had today was incredible,’ he said.
