Leeds United`s pursuit of Kyle Lafferty is well known and fills several column inches on a daily basis at the moment but in a slight twist, The Daily Mirror are reporting that Norwich are keen to land the jewel in Leeds` crown – right back, Sam Byram.
22 year old Byram is out of contract in the summer and seems very reluctant to sign a new contract, meaning that Leeds may decide to sell him in January, rather than risk the lottery of an U23 compensation tribunal in the summer.
West Ham have been linked with Byram this last week or two but The Mirror say that City would be keen on a part exchange deal for the youngster who has scored three goals in his last five games.
I`m not sure what to make of this really. Byram is predominantly a right back but can play midfield or right wing and with the rumoured imminent signing of Portuguese right back, Ivo Pinto, I`m wondering if this is just paper talk (of which there is plenty at the moment.)
Having said that, Sam Byram is a decent player and looks likely to move to the Premier league in the near future. I know we have a history of pinching Leeds` best players but I`m just not sure about this report, assuming Pinto is signing for Norwich, of course.
