Norwich City Head Coach, Daniel Farke says that his squad needs defenders and that Graham Dorrans is on the verge of joining Rangers. As for Jonny Howson, he was a little more reserved in his comments, saying he would like to keep him.

“Of course it is normal there will be speculation and rumours. I just want to concentrate on the guys I have here to work with’ Farke told the EDP

‘I have said it a few times about Jonny Howson. I like him as a person, I love him as a player. I think he is a pretty good player who can play number six, eight and 10. In my opinion one of the best midfielders in the Championship and I would like to work with him longer. I know there are speculations and I don`t want to talk about them. It is part of the business. Jonny is my player. I appreciate him.”

As for Dorrans, Farke confirmed that the Scot had left his squad.

“Right now for sure Graham left us on Tuesday. I don`t think there has been an official announcement but things have developed and I expect he will leave us,” he said. “It is not a secret that he has had a medical in Scotland and it could be pretty soon there is an announcement on a new club.”

One noticeable feature of the match last night was that Timm Klose and Christoph Zimmermann had to play the whole game due to a lack of defensive cover. Russell Martin was with the squad but is carrying a knock, other than that it would be a player like, say, Ben Godfrey adding cover until reinforcements can be acquired.

“It is quite fair to say we need new defenders. We didn`t have another centre back in the squad for this game,” he said. “It is one of the positions we need to think about. We need some more guys and hopefully we find them.’

That is of course no secret and another left back to compete with Harry Toffolo is also needed at the back. We may need a new right back too, although Martin can provide cover there for Ivo Pinto.

The midfield seems to be sorted now, after the arrival of Harrison Reed yesterday but we could do with another striker. A different type of player to Oliveira and Jerome, someone who’s more of a nippier, smaller type, along the style of a Dwight Gayle.

It’s still early days though and one thing we have seen is that there is no dragging of heels from Mr Webber and the recruitment team. They appear highly organised and ready to do a deal when they get the chance.
