Four Norwich Players Out With COVID Ahead Of Cardiff Test

|

Norwich City will be without four players due to positive Corona Virus tests ahead of this weekend’s trip to Cardiff.

Daniel Farke spoke to the media via video at his usual pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime and as usual, our man from the Vital Norwich ForumFC Bears was watching. Here’s his take on what was discussed.

Bali Mumba and Xavi Quintilla have tested positive for COVID-19 so we now have four players out. We also have a few more backroom staff who have it. Tim Krul and Adam Idah also have the virus.

So both back from injury now but both now out for two weeks due to COVID.

Josh Martin and Lukas Rupp have also become unwell and will miss the game.

DF has said that the club are in the market for a GK, Left Back and another central defender.

DF said it is up to the league to decide if game will be called off but he doesn’t think so.

Zimmermann is out with injury and Stiepermann is still out with his own (non COVID) viral issue. Kieran Dowell is 50/50 but 100% to return for the midweek game.

One physio and three sports science staff have the virus. We want to make sure they return pretty safe. They will isolate for ten days.

Four players and five backroom staff members are unavailable due to COVID, to confirm.

DF says that Xavi is still in the plans for the 1st team but we need competition for that spot. DF says that Sorensen has done very well there but he is a midfielder and not a left back.

It is a shame for Xavi to come back from being out for so long to now be out for the next few games again. That is the reason for the club pushing a move for their target left back.

So no Rupp – Martin – Krul – Stiepermann – Xavi – Zimmermann – Idah – Mumba – Byram.

Dowell 50/50

If all above out then I’d go:

Barden

Aarons
Hanley
Gibson
Sorensen

Skipp
Tettey

Cantwell
McLean
Emi

Pukki

Subs:

McCracken – Omobamidele – Vrancic – Hernandez – Hugill – Omotoye – Placheta – Dowell – McAlear

DF said last week that the central defence was better and has meant that we don’t need to look there for recruitment and then a day later Zimmermann picks up a muscle injury and we are down to two again.

He now says because of this that the club is still looking in that role, but I doubt that. If Hanley and Zimmermann get injured andb are out out for say, 8 weeks, Norwich wouldn’t sign a new DC they would play Tettey or Sorensen there!

Fingers crossed that none of those out with COVID suffer any longer term affects from it.
