City captain Mark Fotheringham thinks the Canaries can be challenging at the top of the table after the win – and performance – against Plymouth.

It was only the team’s first win of the season, but the man known as ‘Fozzy’ told the official site that he felt disappointed after the final whistle that the team was unable to keep a clean sheet: ‘I was actually a bit down afterwards because it’s frustrating to lose a late goal. But there were some fantastic performances out there today’.

That probably tells its own story – that the days of being happy to grind out a draw are long gone – and the skipper puts that down as much as anything to the style of play brought in by ‘Team Roeder’ – hence his belief that we should really be looking top six rather than bottom six come May.

‘It’s actually really exciting to be in this team at the moment because Glenn, Lee and Paul have got us playing some great football,’ said Fotheringham. ‘I don’t see any reason why we can’t challenge this season.

‘We’ve got players here that are hungry. We will have setbacks along the way of course but we’ve got characters here to cope with that.’
