Fulham Make Move For Norwich Defender With Everton Watching On

|

Fulham have made an approach for Norwich City central defender, Ben Godfrey, according to Football Insider.

The 22-year-old has started all three of the new season’s matches so far and he has completed 90 minutes in each of them. I imagine that this link comes from the fact that Fulham are clearly in the market for a new centre-back, which has even widely reported in various media outlets.

This morning (Monday 28/9) news has broken that Fulham’s attempt to sign Brazilian centre-back, Marlon from Italian club, Sassuolo has broken down after the player failed a medical. A €15m deal was in place but Fulham manager, Scott Parker will now have to look at other options and that could be Godfrey.

According to The Athletic journalist, David Ornstein, strengthening in that position is a priority for Parker and other targets than Godfrey include, Gleison Bremer of Torino, Juan Foyth of Spurs and Watford’s Craig Dawson.

Mr Ornstein also suggest that Godfrey is on the radar of Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti who is looking for defensive reinforcements after injuries to Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite. A move for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori looks to be dead in the water though, with Chelsea keen to keep him and Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo has been mentioned plenty along with Everton’s name in recent days.

Godfrey has been linked with every man and his dog this summer in terms of clubs. Names such as Tottenham, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have all previously been linked, adding to the madness that ensues when the transfer window is still open after the season has kicked off.

It’s going to be a crazy seven days until that window slams shut.
