Grant Holt has been released by Hibernian following the expiry of his contract.
The 36 year old scored 7 goals in 37 games for the Edinburgh side, helping Neil Lennon’s side win promotion back to the SPL.
I had the opportunity to go to a business breakfast with Holty earlier in the season, organised by the club and Alan Boswell Insurance and remember him saying, when asked how things were going in Scotland, ‘it’s hard, really hard.’
He was referring to the state of the game up north of the border, in general. The small size of the crowds, poor facilities at some clubs and the physicality.
At 36, I wonder what’s next for my favourite City player since Darren Huckerby?
Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but as he now lives locally, some sort of job with the Canaries would be great. Imagine the knowledge he could pass on to some of the young lads?
Meanwhile, in other news, 20 year old Michele Efete has joined Icelandic side, Breidablik on loan until June 30th the club have announced
The season in Iceland runs from May to September due to weather conditions and this should be a very interesting move for the lad. No summer break for Michee, ahead of a one year option being triggered on his contract.
