HITC Sport are reporting that Gary Hooper’s move to Sheffield Wednesday has fallen through, although they don’t specify why.
Yesterday, Alex Neil suggested that Hooper could potentially be involved at Southampton on Sunday but gave us nothing more. The ‘Grabbangate’ incident could well have prompted City to hold on to Hooper with Wednesday reportedly still keen to sign him.
However, Wednesday boss, Carlos Carvaalhal is considering making an offer for Kyle Lafferty instead, either to buy or loan, suggest HITC.
Interestingly, The Scunthorpe Telegraph (who have a fascination with Gary Hooper) report that the player has agreed terms with Sheffield Wednesday but that the deal has stalled over “delayed paperwork and a dispute over minor payments” – they quote their source as being 90min.com.
Sky Sports report that Wednesday have made a £3m move for Watford’s Fernando Forestieri, which may have been prompted by the delay with the Hooper deal.
