Chris Hughton has today spoken of his confidence in new star signing, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.

The Dutch striker is joining the Canaries on 1st July from Sporting Lisbon for a reported fee of £8.5m and expectations are high.

‘In this division you have to make sure you are hard to beat but you also have to have players who can make the difference,’ Hughton said in the Daily Mirror.

‘I can’t think of one game last season where we thought this one is going to be comfortable for us.

‘This signing could be the one that turns some of our draws into wins. We drew a lot last season and that is one area where we would like to see the difference.’

CH is exactly right there – the number of draws meant that we were hard to beat but too often we couldn’t put the ball into the net.

In recent seasons new players to the league have scored goals immediately and this is something on the boss’s mind.

Hughton added: ‘We hope he’s the man. The test is can he do it in a very tough division. We’ve seen scorers at Aston Villa like Benteke when he arrived, and Grant Holt got 15 goals for us in the season before last.’

Fingers crossed that the investment is worth it – I for one am very excited at the prospect of seeing RVW at first hand and I’ve got a feeling from what I’ve seen & heard about him that he will be ‘the man.’
