Walsall boss Chris Hutchings couldn’t hide his disappointed after seeing his team lose to a late City comeback.

The Saddlers lead through Troy Deeney’s first half goal against a below par City side, only for late strikes from Chris Martin and Cody McDonald to steal maximum points for the Canaries.

Speaking to saddlers.co.uk after the game Hutchings said:

‘It was very disappointing. We got ourselves into a good position and created a few chances but then conceded two sloppy goals.

‘I can’t fault the lads for effort and commitment and the way that they played. I felt that we nullified them quite well; there were plenty of positives for us to take out of the game, the only negative was the final result.

‘To be fair, there didn’t look too much between the two teams. We had lots of quality play, but it just didn’t fall for us to get that second goal.

‘Both teams tried to play football in difficult conditions and we can take heart from the performance.’

The result leaves the Saddlers 12th in the League One table, twelve points off the play-offs and just five above the relegation places.
