Interesting Transfer Link Surrounds Norwich City

|

If you didn’t catch the transfer gossip columns yesterday, I can tell you that a rather surprising rumour has appeared concerning Norwich City and Greek international left-back, Dimitris Giannoulis.

At this point the speculation, as reported by the EDP, suggests that City are “edging closer” to agreeing a loan deal to bring Giannoulis to Carrow Road for the rest of the season with a loan fee of €500,000 having reportedly been agreed between the two clubs and City agreeing to pay €7m to make it permanent should they achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

The EDP think those figures are a little high, although the 500,000 euro loan fee doesn’t seem too out of the way for such a decent sounding player.

He has 11 caps for the Greek national team and he’s made 12 appearances for his club, PAOK, so far this season. He is described as PAOK’s “prized asset”, and losing him mid-season on-loan and then potentially permanently in the summer is slightly surprising to me, although with the Canaries current league position, I can see why the player would be interested in coming.

It’s suggested that Newcastle and Torino have previously shown an interest with one source suggesting the deal is 99% done. Norwich have a similar deal in place with Villarreal and Xavi Quintilla, so this is slightly surprising but having said that, it’s probably because I’m not used to such transfer fees being bandied around with regard to Norwich.

One to keep an eye on.
