Everton’s John Ruddy could be the answer to Paul Lambert’s goalkeeping puzzle if the latest rumours doing the rounds are true.

The City boss is still chasing Newcastle’s Fraser Forster (you may have heard), but with Toon boss Chris Hughton seemingly refusing to play ball Lambert admitted this week that he may need to look elsewhere.

Ruddy has built up some impressive Esso points since starting his career at Cambridge in 2004.

He signed for the Toffees in the summer of 2005 for £250,000 and in September was sent on loan to Walsall, and by the end of the season had also taken in spells with Rushden & Diamonds and Chester City.

In September 2006 he joined Stockport County on loan for three months, the following February went to Wrexham for a month, and in April was brought in by Bristol City on an emergency one-week loan.

Further loan spells back at Stockport and then at Crewe Alexandra followed, before spending all of last season on loan with Motherwell.

And if that’s not enough for you, some kind soul has edited Ruddy’s Wikipedia page, claiming he signed for the Canaries for an undisclosed fee on 3rd July – which is today.
