Norwich City have been linked with free agent, Joey Barton by The Sun.

The 32yr old’s contract was run down last season by QPR as Rangers were relegated and I suspect they couldn’t afford him as they plan for life in the Championship.

The former Newcastle and Manchester City midfielder was working for BBC Radio 5 Live at Bournemouth on Saturday and tweeted afterwards that he hopes to be back playing with a new club next week.

Barton has also been linked with Leeds United but again, I suspect they couldn’t afford his wage demands.

Would City want him? Seems unlikely to me as we are well stocked with midfield players and at his age, would he offer anything that Gary O’Neil doesn’t? I’m not so sure.

Every Norwich fan knows we need a Centre back and a Striker, we have enough midfielders.
