According to reports in Italy, Norwich are chasing Porto’s Colombian attacking midfielder, Juan Fernando Quintero.

The 22yr old is rated as a big prospect in many quarters of world football and is half way through a 4yr contract at Porto but it seems that for one reason or another Porto may be willing to sell.

Quintero made 30 appearances for his club last season and in total has made 64 appearances for his current side, scoring 7 goals and creating 11. He has 13 caps for Colombia and scored 1 goal in last year’s World Cup finals against the Ivory Coast.

At just 5’6′ and with a wand of a left foot, he seems an obvious successor to Wes ‘Wessi’ Hoolahan and Tutto Mercato are reporting that Norwich are in for him and have offered him a two year deal.

Serie A side, Chievo are also interested and have registered their interest, hence the media outlet involved. From what I can make out, Quintero has struggled for game time and mostly been used as a substitute last season with Porto, failing to complete 90 minutes on any single occasion.

This sounds highly ambitious but the source is usually reliable(ish). Just a year ago, the lad was linked with Arsenal before Arsene Wenger rubbished press reports at that time.

If this was to come off, I’ll definitely be buying a shirt with Juan’s name on it!!!
