It had been expected Jake Kean would extend his loan spell with Colchester but he wasn’t in the squad beaten by Southend at Roots Hall on Saturday, with Elliott Parish finding himself again as manager Kevin Keen’s first choice ‘keeper.
Jake Kean had come in on a 28-day from Norwich but his time at the Weston Homes Community Stadium has ended, with Keen confirming he was ‘unhappy with a couple of things’ telling the Gazette.
‘It was an agreement between the two of us. There were a couple of things that Jake wasn’t happy with, so he’s gone back to Norwich. We have Elliott, Dylan (Barnes) and James Bransgrove until the end of the season and I’m sure that they won’t let us down.’
Kevin Keen added that he also had doubts about keeping Kean and as a result the ‘keeper has returned to Carrow Road.
‘Was it Jake’s decision to go back to Norwich? It was a bit of half and half.’
Kean kept goal for the U’s in their 1-4 FA Cup defeat to Spurs, having little chance with any of the goals and he cut a frustrated figure when I was watching the replay.
