Roy Keane will join Aston Villa as Paul Lambert’s assistant before the pair make Wes Hoolahan their number one priority – so says The Daily Star On Sunday.
Keane is currently on a tour of the USA with the Republic Of Ireland but the paper reckons he will be announced later this week as Lambert’s assistant, after pulling out of ITV’s World Cup team. It should also be pointed out though that The Irish Mirror today have an interview with Anthony Pilkington in which the City winger states he’s glad that Keane is staying with Ireland after knocking back the Celtic job.
Anyway, back to the original story and The Star say that Villa’s pursuit of Wes Hoolahan will then be stepped up. However, should City refuse to do business with Lambert then Leicester are ‘ready with a £2m bid.’
You’ve got to love the English press for that sort of nonsense. Leicester may well be interested but I’ll eat my hat if they are willing to pay £2m. If they are then I expect we will see Nigel Pearson with one arm in a sling after David McNally has snapped his hand off!
