Kyle Lafferty has a ‘slight chance’ of being fit for Birmingham’s match against Reading on Saturday, says Blues boss Gary Rowett but Tuesday’s game against Brighton will come too soon.
Lafferty`s absence is particularly frustrating given that the Blues did well to get him just before the loan deadline – only for the Canary striker to sustain a groin injury while playing for his country.
Rowett says he has a ‘slight chance` of playing in Saturday`s game.
“I think we have made a fantastic acquisition in Kyle, unfortunately for us he got injured in the second international game, which we couldn`t do a lot about because we had to sign him before the deadline.
“I am hopeful but I am probably more hopeful for next weekend – that`s what we were told by the physios, there`s probably a better chance for him being fit for Reading – and that`s probably a slight chance.
“I think this game (Brighton) will be too soon.”
At least Kyle is still in with a shout of getting some all important game time under his belt ahead of Euro 2016.
