City boss Paul Lambert has confirmed that he is keen to sign Russell Martin and Anthony McNamee on permanent deals.

Full back Russell Martin has made half a dozen appearances for the club since arriving on loan from Peterborough, and has brought in some real competition for resident right-back Jon Otsemobor.

McNamee on the other hand has been limited to just two substitute appearances after signing from Swindon Town, but Lambert insists he has seen enough on the Colney training pitches as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for automatic promotion back to the Championship.

“We’re talking to the respective clubs at the moment, we’ll try and see what we can do,” he told canaries.co.uk.

“We’re talking at the minute. Anthony is a bit different because it’s hard to get into the side at the minute and Russell’s come in and done great, but it’s hard to get in the side – however Anthony’s done great in training so I don’t have a problem there.

“I know what I can get from him. To do anything we’re going to need a group of lads not just 12 or 13 people, we need a group to win us games and the squad is as important as the team. We won’t do anything if everyone doesn’t pull the same way. We need everyone to pull the same way and the group of lads have certainly done that.”
