City chief Paul Lambert has become the odds-on favourite to be named the new manager of Burnley.

Lambert is 1/3 with SkyBET and 4/6 with Victor Chandler this afternoon, ahead of Watford boss and former Canaries defender Malky Mackay, who is at evens out from 1/5 and 1/6 with the same bookmakers.

He signed a new contract in the summer and has steered the Canaries to third in the Championship – only outside the automatic promotion places on goal difference – so quite why he would decide to go to Burnley is anyone’s guess.

In other news, Lambert has been nominated for npower’s Manager of the Month award for December alongside Malky Mackay, Simon Grayson of Leeds and Reading boss Brian McDermott.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 13th January.
