City boss Paul Lambert has confirmed that he wants to sign Spurs defender Kyle Naughton on a permanent basis.

Naughton, 23, has been a virtual ever present in the City side this season since arriving on a year-long loan from White Hart Lane, and was asked to play in a more unfamiliar position of left back in today’s 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Speaking to the Pinkun after today’s game, Lambert confirmed that he had spoken to Harry Redknapp ‘briefly’ about Naughton’s future following Tottenham’s midweek success at Carrow Road, and plans to have a follow-up conversation ‘really soon’.

The former Sheffield United trainee has also enjoyed loan spells with Middlesbrough and Leicester since joining Spurs in the summer of 2009.
