Former Norwich City striker Leon McKenzie is set to make his Charlton debut against the Canaries at Carrow Road on Saturday.

31-year-old McKenzie signed for the Addicks ahead of the transfer deadline after being released by Coventry, but is yet to feature for the first team.

‘We’re working really hard with Leon on his fitness,’ Charlton boss Phil Parkinson told the South London Press. ‘He’s champing at the bit to play.

‘He is doing well and he was close to being involved at the weekend, but Izale McLeod did well when he came on in the previous game so I didn’t really want to change that.

‘Leon’s doing enough in training to suggest he could be in the squad on Saturday. Hopefully he can nudge his way towards involvement.’

McKenzie made more than 80 appearances for the Canaries between 2003 and 2006 (scoring 22 times), but is yet to play at Carrow Road since leaving the club.
