Norwich City’s U21 Development side crashed to a heavy 7-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford, last night.

The hosts fielded a very strong team that included Sergio Romero, Phil Jones, Memphis Depay and several others with first team experience, while Norwich played many of the players that beat Middlesbrough 5-4 in the U18 FA Cup, last week.

Will Keane scored twice in the first half and then bagged a second half hat-trick with a penalty from Pereira and a late Fonsu-Mensah strike wrapping up the win.

In case you’re unaware, Sergio Romero kept goal for Argentina in the last World Cup, while I’m sure Phil Jones, Adnan Januzai and Memphis Depay all need no introduction. Paddy McNair, Pereira and Keane also have several senior games under their belts.

I get the impression that this game was used as some sort of ‘experience’ for the youngsters, although I’m sure the result of their first game at Old Trafford will unfortunately live long in their memories.
