On loan defender Russell Martin has set his sights on a permanent move to Carrow Road.

Martin is due to return to Peterborough after today’s game at Wycombe, but after boss Paul Lambert confirmed that talks have taken place between the two clubs over a full-time switch, admitted he did not want to go back to London Road and be part of Posh’s Championship relegation struggle.

‘I think the clubs are in dialogue at the minute and they know my position that I want to stay here, hopefully permanently, but if not hopefully get something done until the end of the season,’ he told canaries.co.uk. ‘They’re aware of that, Peterborough are aware of that, so hopefully we can get something done.

‘It’s just a great club to be honest. The facilities are brilliant and I’ve said to a few of my friends that you might never get a chance to play for a club bigger than this – the fan base, the stadium, everything about it is just brilliant.

‘The club shouldn’t be in the league it is in and it’s up to us as players and staff to get it out – hopefully we will.’

Don’t forget that the Wycombe game this afternoon (3pm) is a sell-out for City supporters, with over 2,000 heading to Adams Park. The club are therefore advising fans not to travel to the game without a ticket, as you’ll only leave disappointed!
