The 32-year-old has been beset by one injury after another in a Canary career that never got going.
Matt has made just 21 appearances in all competitions since joining City in the summer of 2015, on loan initially, from West Ham. That move was made permanent in January 2016 after Jarvis had shown enough to suggest he would be an asset.
After that though, it all went downhill, with the former Wolves, West Ham and England winger missing the whole of the last two seasons with a serious knee injury.
There have been several near comebacks but he always broke down again and we’re on the verge of another comeback now. He’s made a couple of U23 appearances and I’m sure he’ll be desperate to prove his fitness again.
The link to Walsall is almost certainly his former teammate and player-coach at the Bescot Stadium, Russell Martin with the Sadlers currently sitting in 14th place in League One.
There will be no way that a League One club can pay the rumoured £30k+ that Jarvis is reportedly earning, so I imagine that the deal will be heavily subsidised by Norwich.
It’s not nice being injured as Joe Public, never mind being a professional footballer, so I can only imagine how hard it must’ve been for the lad.
He’s not been deliberately injured and yes, I know that the money must make it easier than for the rest of us in our daily lives.
I’ve only ever read good things being said about him by the likes of Stuart Webber, so good luck to Matt and I hope he gets back to full fitness.
