Youssouf Mulumbu will be heading back to Norfolk and Norwich City this week after the DR Congo were knocked out of the African Cup Of Nations.
Ghana beat the DR Congo 2-1 in Sunday night’s Quarter Final in Gabon sending the Leopards back to their respective clubs, something that won’t have come soon enough for Alex Neil.
The Canaries have only two fit senior midfielders in Jonny Howson and Alex Tettey at the moment and Tettey is only one booking away from his tenth of the season and an automatic two match ban. Amazingly he’s now managed two games without getting that booking but he’d need to carry that angelic form through to March to avoid getting a ban – I can’t see it happening.
The return of Mulumbu will boost City’s midfield and he should be available for next Saturday’s trip to Cardiff.
While away with the Leopards, Youssouf only made two appearances, as a 72nd-minute substitute in a 2-2 draw with Ivory Coast and he played all of the 3-1 win over Togo. He was named man of the match against Togo as DR Congo topped Group C.
