DR Congo Captain Youssouf Mulumbu will be out in Africa a while longer yet after his side qualified for the Afcon quarterfinals after beating Togo 3-1 in their final group C game on Tuesday.
After the game, Youssouf spoke about his elation at qualifying when he spoke to Supersport.com
‘We are more than happy after qualifying; we played very good football with a lot of focus on scoring goals. We have worked together as a team from the first game and never gave up.’
‘We were in a very tough group with very good teams and finishing on top of the group is a good indication that it’s not impossible to win the title.’
‘We will go back and rest and immediately embark on preparations for the quarterfinals which to us will be like another final,’ he added.
The DR Congo’s next match is likely to be against either Ghana or Egypt and that Quarter final will take place on Sunday 29th Janauary, meaning he will miss Norwich City’s clash with Birmingham.
If they win that Quarterfinal then he could miss the trip to Cardiff, as well as potentially the trip to Wigan on February 7th.
Better sign another midfielder, Alex.
