One of our own, Josh Murphy has left Norwich for the Premier League and Cardiff City.
The talk is that the transfer fee was around £11m, although of course, both clubs announced it as an “undisclosed fee.”
Is it a good move for all parties? I’d say so. The player gets a move to the Premier League, his former club get a tidy sum and his new club get a player with his best years ahead of him and with all the attributes to make it at the top of the game.
Josh was inconsistent for Norwich over the last season, which often irked those sitting around me. However, when he was on it, he was brilliant. Indeed against Aston Villa at Carrow Road, he was too hot to handle for the Villains and almost unplayable on the day.
He scored the Canaries’ goal of the season in that game, a magnificent 25-yard curling effort that left Sam Johnstone clutching at thin air as it went in off a post and he also scored an excellent breakaway goal at Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
It was this sort of finishing that prompted Neil Warnock to make him his number one summer target.
But, what do the fans think?
A quick trawl of Twitter has come up with this little lot. Would you agree with any of it?
Norwich getting good money for Josh Murphy with winger close to joining Cardiff for £11m. #ncfc #CardiffCity

Who will #ncfc fans use as their scapegoat now Josh Murphy is leaving?? Inconsistent yes but that’s the nature of a winger and on his day he can be a game changer. Might’ve happened more often if fans weren’t on his back all the time ????????♀️

£11.5m for a 24 year-old Deulofeu while a 23 year-old Josh Murphy is going to Cardiff for 10m? That's quality business. https://t.co/cAuqP3idcm

Will be sad to see Josh Murphy go but £10 Million is a very good price, he has all the attributes to play in Premier League just needs to be more consistent with his end product, Academy must’ve been doing something right after all ????????????#Ncfc

Josh Murphy for Moritz Leitner plus £7m is a no brainer #ncfc

Speaking to a Norwich fan on the train tonight about Josh Murphy, lad tells me that he can't defend and has no guts? Had me thinking as Warnock likes his men to track back have we signed him to play through the middle? Just a thought. He has the attributes for it

I think 10 million is a decent price for Josh Murphy in today’s market he’s still only 23 with bags of potential, and you know Warnock will get the best out of him

Josh Murphy isn’t the polished product, still raw and inconsistent but possesses all the tools relevant to be a match winner on his day. I wish him nothing but the best. #ncfc

What ever we think of #ncfc #joshmurphy we must thank him for his service to the club and signing that new contract last season that enabled the club to get the £10m+ …could have walked away for a tribunal fee #rememberthatpeople ! #norwichcityfc #murphy #canarycall

Depends how you define make it. You could argue that #NCFC have developed Josh Murphy and now sold him for a big profit. That is success even though as fans we may wish players to stay longer.

I know we have to balance the books, cut our cloth accordingly etc etc blah blah but at some point soon the cupboard will be bare, there’ll be no sacrificial lambs left. Just how much asset stripping can we take? #joshmurphy #ncfc

My lasting memory of Josh Murphy is the absolute pickle he put Manga in, at our place in December.
Happy with that.

Perfect example of why English market is over-inflated:
Deulofeu – £11.5 mill
Josh Murphy – £11 mill.I know who'd I'd rather. Domestic market is getting ridiculous. Huge money for average English players, I wouldn't take Murphy at Leeds. Then fans get mad when we go foreign.

That last tweet from @Max_LUFC has got some legs, you know.
