Norwich City have knocked back an offer for Jacob Murphy from Newcastle says the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope.

Hope tweeted this afternoon (@CraigHope_DM) ‘Understand NUFC made an £8m bid for Jacob Murphy but Norwich have said he is not for sale. Sources say unlikely to progress.’

That is good news for the Canary nation and a display of intent from the club to keep hold of one of it’s brightest and most valuable young prospects.

£8m is bordering on derisory in this current transfer market, although I don’t suppose you can knock Newcastle for a speculative punt.

Jacob showed exactly what he is all about last season, despite his form tailing off in the final couple of months, and even when he was having a quiet game, he often scored a goal out of nothing which is a handy attribute to have.

With 4 years left on his contract, 10 goals in the Championship and being an England U21 international, his value is certainly well into double figures. When you factor in his potential, he’s likely to be valued by Norwich at over £15m.
