Norwich City will not let any player leave the club unless it`s on their terms, Stuart Webber told a fan`s forum last night.

During the event at Carrow Road, which was a Q&A hosted by Darren Eadie before Stuart Webber, Steve Stone and Daniel Farke took questions from the floor.

There were a couple of questions about the recent speculation surrounding Jacob Murphy, with both questions citing all of the stuff that`s been in the press about fees, which can surely only be described as speculation, at best.

Having said that, if anyone knows, it`ll be Stuart Webber and when told from the floor that he had turned down an £8m bid for Jacob, he replied along the lines of “Have I done that?” He then went on to quip “You`ve been reading the Newcastle Chronicle, haven`t you!?”

That prompted much laughter from the crowd before he explained that the club haven`t spoken to Jacob Murphy and he is only due to join up with the squad again today after his time with the England U21s and having then been on holiday. It seems that if anything is going to happen then it will be upon his return but he reiterated that “If we sell any player it`ll be on our terms.”

The quip about the Newcastle Chronicle suggests to me that he is fully aware of transfer speculation in the media. I can`t help but wonder to what extent that is though?

Is he like me, sitting in his kitchen at 6am, eating his porridge while the house is still quiet, checking his iPad for the latest stuff on “News Now”?

Is he all over Twitter or does he have someone telling him?

He seems far too serious and determined to succeed in his role to be leaving any stone unturned, so I`m not surprised one little bit and having heard him speak, I`m glad he`s our Sporting Director.
